The Battle of Borodino

-

More than 1,000 members of military history clubs from 20 countries arrived in Borodino, Moscow region, to reenact the battle, which took place on September 7, 1812 during the Patriotic War. The real fighting involved some 250,000 troops and resulted in at least 70,000 casualties, making Borodino the deadliest day of the Napoleonic Wars. Although the outcome was seen as a victory by Napoleon Bonaparte, the battle was just one more source of losses to the French, and eventually led to victory of Russia and almost complete destruction of the French army.
